Freshmen Orientation

In order to grow For a Strawless Sea, it is imperative that we recruit new members every year! In August 2019, our club had a table at Yorktown High School’s Freshmen Orientation. We thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to welcome the incoming freshmen to our school, and many gravitated toward our table due to our colorful table decorations that included pictures of our work, single-use alternatives, and, of course, candy for them to take. We found that the freshmen were grateful for the chance to join a club before the 2019-2020 school year started, and many were deeply interested in our mission and felt compelled to improve the sustainability of our community. We will continue to attend Freshmen Orientation every year to find more club members, as each and every one of them contributes to the success of For a Strawless Sea!
